As a Realtor, one of the most popular questions asked is, “Is this neighborhood safe?”. Unfortunately, I am unable to answer that question for a few reasons:

  1. It violates Federal Fair Housing standards which are meant to deter agents from steering buyers into or out of certain areas.
  2. My idea of safe might not be the same as your idea of safe.  I grew up in Alaska where we had to worry  more about moose and bear than we did other people.  “Safe” is subjective.

So, what do you do when you’re new to Chicago and are curious about safety in your neighborhood? Amir Syed, with PERL Mortgage, has two great new apps to help you out. Watch the Mortgage Minute video for more details.
